The ToscaLabs mission
Hello everyone! We are ToscaLabs, happy to meet you all!
We are a small community focused on developing software to address challenges in social contexts. Our mission is to use computer science to provide solutions to social issues, and through our projects, we hope to help as many people as possible.
By leveraging modern programming languages, we build versatile libraries
and innovative tools, releasing them as open source whenever possible.
Currently, we use Rust for all our software to ensure
memory safety and high performance. However, we remain open to any programming
languages that make development fun and more efficient.
The name ToscaLabs is a combination of two words.
Tosca comes from a dream a friend of mine had one night, in which he and
I founded a startup with that name.
In the end, we did not launch our startup, but I found Tosca to be a
perfect name for a project like this, especially from a phonetic standpoint.
On the other hand, Labs is a suffix commonly used by companies to
convey curiosity about innovation, research, and software development,
as well as constant desire to explore new ideas.
Within the ToscaLabs GitHub organization, we host both public and private repositories. The visibility of each repository depends on the nature of the project and the needs of those who collaborate with us. When a repository is public, anyone is welcome to contribute by opening a pull request with their proposed changes.
If you have a project that aligns with our mission and would like to integrate it into ToscaLabs, we would be more than happy to hear about your idea. Feel free to email us at: info@toscalabs.org.
